For the fourth time, and the third year in a row, Vancouver Whitecaps FC have won the TELUS Canadian Championship! This coast-to-coast tournament features 14 teams competing over four rounds. Tonight, they defeated Toronto FC at BC Place in Vancouver, winning in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw at the final whistle.

‘Caps starting goalkeeper for the night, Isaac Boehmer, made some huge stops including saving a crucial penalty on former Italian international Bernardeschi to keep the scores level. Boehmer would come up huge again in the 87th minute, denying a long shot from Bernardeschi to keep the match scoreless.
From there, in penalty kicks, Boehmer also stopped Kosi Thompson while the final kick came down to Bjørn Inge Utvik, with Norwegian defender tucking it away (4-2) to give the ‘Caps their title in front of 12,516 adoring fans.
Vancouver first won the Voyageurs Cup in 2015, and then repeated as Canadian Champions in 2022, 2023, and now in 2024. Tonight’s win secures the team’s spot in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, featuring the best 27 teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
