Vancouver Whitecaps Win Canadian Championship

‘Caps starting goalkeeper for the night, Isaac Boehmer, made some huge stops including saving a crucial penalty on former Italian international Bernardeschi to keep the scores level. Boehmer would come up huge again in the 87th minute, denying a long shot from Bernardeschi to keep the match scoreless.

From there, in penalty kicks, Boehmer also stopped Kosi Thompson while the final kick came down to Bjørn Inge Utvik, with Norwegian defender tucking it away (4-2) to give the ‘Caps their title in front of 12,516 adoring fans.

Vancouver first won the Voyageurs Cup in 2015, and then repeated as Canadian Champions in 2022, 2023, and now in 2024. Tonight’s win secures the team’s spot in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, featuring the best 27 teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Tournament awards were handed out for:

Best Young Canadian Player: Isaac Boehmer
George Gross Most Valuable Player: Isaac Boehmer

The Whitecaps are back at BC Place this Saturday, September 28th to play Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers. Get tickets and join over 24,000 fans on match day in Vancouver.
