byTransLink is offering free transit for all services this New Year’s Eve around Metro Vancouver, thanks to a sponsorship from Captain Morgan – the first partnership of this kind for TransLink.
Free Transit on New Year’s Eve in Metro Vancouver
TransLink has partnered with a sponsor to cover some of the costs of extra transit services on New Year’s Eve. The Captain Morgan logo will be visible on Compass Vending Machines, Compass Validators, platform screens, and other digital products across the transit system, leading up to New Year’s Eve.
From 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 31st until 5:00am on Wednesday, January 1st, riders won’t need to tap their Compass Card or other payment methods to use transit.
- Buses will operate on a extended weekday schedule, with 52 additional buses throughout the system and extra service on select routes.
- SkyTrain service will operate on an extended weekday schedule.
- Last train from Waterfront to King George at 2:16am
- Last train from Waterfront to Lougheed Town Centre at 2:11am
- Last train from Waterfront to Production Way–University at 1:40am
- Last train from VCC–Clark to Lafarge Lake–Douglas at 2:22am (until 2:30am to Lougheed Town Centre only)
- Last train from Waterfront to YVR–Airport at 2:05am
- Last train from Waterfront to Richmond–Brighouse at 2:15am
- SeaBus will be running on an extended weekday schedule, with service every 15 minutes until 1:22am and every 30 minutes until the last sailing from Waterfront Station at 2:22am
- NightBus will continue operating after SkyTrain and SeaBus service ends.
- NightBus runs throughout the night on key routes in Vancouver, Richmond, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, and Surrey.
- West Coast Express will be operating on a weekday schedule.
- The 5:30pm and 6:20pm trains leaving Waterfront Station will be free to customers.
The TransLink Customer Service Centre, Access Transit Customer Care Office, and Lost Property Office will be open during regular weekday hours on December 31.
Customers who begin trips prior to 5:00pm should tap out to ensure they’re charged the correct fare.
