Vancouver Bird Celebration Events
Vancouver Bird Celebration is May 1-17, 2026 with bird-themed walks, talks, workshops, exhibitions, and family-friendly activities hosted by passionate community groups throughout the Lower Mainland. It’s inspired by World Migratory Bird Day, a United Nations-sponsored initiative that recognizes the importance of birds as key indicators of our environment’s health.

Vancouver Bird Celebration Events
The opening event is Your Observation Matters: Citizen Science in Birding Expert Panel, Q&A. It’s happening on May 2nd at the Stanley Park Pavilion starting at 10:00am. Tickets are available for purchase online. This panel brings together experienced voices in birding and conservation:
- Scott Loarie – the Executive Director at iNaturalist, empowering Citizen Science around the world
- John Reynolds – a professor at Simon Fraser University, where he holds the Tom Buell Chair in Aquatic Conservation
- David Bird – an Emeritus Professor of Wildlife Biology at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec
- Jeffrey Nicholls – a member of the Ganhada – ‘Raven Clan’ of the Tsimshian Nation, president of RAVEN Trust
- Trenton Schulz-Franco – an advocate for Indigenous-led stewardship, and artist with a background in law, ecology, and geo-political commentary

The Greater Vancouver Bird Celebration is organized through a collaborative partnership between Birds Canada, Stanley Park Ecology , Burnaby Lake Park Association, Stewardship Centre for BC, and Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association assisting cities, municipalities and organizations in Greater Vancouver to celebrate birds throughout the region.
