Celebrated Chef Michel Jacob Retiring This Spring

  • Details: After four decades, one of Vancouver’s most celebrated and acclaimed chefs, Michel Jacob, will hang up his apron at Le Crocodile one last time on April 30th, 2024. Le Crocodile has long been considered one of the city’s best fine dining French destinations, with a focus on Alsace classics. The restaurant opened in 1983 and was originally inspired by Michelin-starred Au Crocodile in Jacob’s hometown of Strasbourg. Jacob will hand over the restaurant to long-time friend and colleague Rob Feenie. Feenie will then re-open the restaurant as Le Crocodile by Rob Feenie coming early this summer.

10th Annual Curry Cup

  • Details: The 10th Annual Curry Cup makes its much-anticipated return on Monday, March 11, 2024, presented by the esteemed Chefs’ Table Society and the Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Association (BIA). The Curry Cup has become a staple event in Vancouver’s culinary calendar, showcasing the diverse and delicious world of curry dishes prepared by some of the city’s most talented chefs. This friendly competition benefits the Mount Pleasant Community Centre food program that feeds over 100 people in need each day. Reserve your ticket now. L’Abattoir Partners with Wines of British Columbia to Present a Series of Regional
Wine Dinners

  • When: Starting Wednesday, March 20th at 6:00pm
  • Where: First dinner series is at L’Abattoir, 217 Carrall St., Vancouver
  • Details: L’Abattoir, distinguished for its commitment to excellence in wine programming, proudly announced a series of Winemaker Dinners in partnership with Wines of British Columbia. The series will focus on some of the province’s best producers from three specific wine regions, highlighting each region’s unique characteristics, including terroir, microclimates and the grape varietals themselves. Having been recognized at the Vancouver International Wine List Awards since 2018, L’Abattoir continues to honor BC wines through their participation in Pour More BC, in addition to the new dinner series. Tickets for each dinner in the series (through the summer) are limited and are set to launch a month before each event. The tickets for the North Okanagan Wine Dinner are now available.

SUYO con Amigos: New Dinner Series Brings Together Top Vancouver Chefs

  • When: March 14, 2024 through November 2024
  • Where: 3475 Main St., Vancouver
  • Details: Award-winning SUYO Modern Peruvian restaurant has announced a new dinner series called “SUYO con Amigos”. The series will spotlight some of Vancouver’s most accomplished chefs, each representing cuisines that have influenced Peruvian culinary traditions and SUYO Chef/Partner Ricardo Valverde himself – in addition to spotlighting culinary influences that have made the restaurant incredibly popular and beloved. Secure your seats and learn more for SUYO x Bar Haifa on March 14, 2024, with seatings at 5:00pm and 8:30pm. The dinner is priced at $249 per person for the menu and pairings, plus tax and gratuity.

Marugame Udon Downtown Vancouver Location Now Open!

  • When: Opened Saturday, February 24, 2024
  • Where: 589 Beatty St., Vancouver open 11:00am to 9:00pm
  • Details: Marugame Udon, the acclaimed Japanese noodle restaurant, opened their Downtown Vancouver location a few weeks ago. The new 80-seat restaurant, serves Sanuki-style udon noodles, tempura and rice bowls for lunch and dinner. The Vancouver launch is Marugame Udon’s first-ever establishment in Canada–the group’s 263rd overseas location. With its theatre-like setting and open kitchen, Marugame Udon offers guests an interactive and delicious experience.

Meo to Open in Vancouver Chinatown

  • When: This March
  • Where: 265 E Pender St., Vancouver
  • Details: The team behind Vancouver Chinatown’s Bao Bei Chinese Brasserie and Michelin star Kissa Tanto are gearing up to open a new cocktail and snack bar concept later this month. Meo, located underneath Kissa Tanto is a playful, trendy sister company to Kissa Tanto’s sophisticated Tokyo jazz persona. Be the first to visit the insta-worthy cocktail bar upon their opening.
