It’s amazing what you can discover about a community when you get out of your vehicle and explore its downtown core, rather than breeze right through on the highway. Did you know that Williams Lake is the Mural Capital of the Cariboo? I met up with Arty at the Cariboo Arts and Culture Centre, where a sidewalk pottery sale was taking place. From there he showed me some of the participating venues for the Williams Lake Art Walk. The concept is that visitors can pick up an Art Walk passport, visit the venues (shops, services, and eateries) view the artwork on display from local artists in the Cariboo, get stamps and enter to win a prize. It not only shows you some awesome local art (which you can buy) but introduces you to the community through these venues.

Not to mention discover (and purchase) some beautiful pieces by Cariboo artists, each with their own style, esthetic, and flare.
