Seawall Closure Third Beach to Prospect Point

The next phase of work to address the impact of the Hemlock Looper Moth on Stanley Park’s trees will begin this month. As part of this effort, the Seawall will be closed from Third Beach to Prospect Point from November 4 to December 6, 2024, to allow for the safe removal of dead trees.

A helicopter will be deployed periodically between November 14 and December 7 to safely remove and transport the felled wood from the cliffs above the seawall. The helicopter will be in use during daylight hours between 8am and 5pm, in accordance with the City’s noise control by-law.

What Will TransLink Do With Old SkyTrain Cars?

As our long-beloved, and well-worn, Mark I SkyTrains reach retirement, TransLink has a question: What should they do with the old SkyTrain cars? They are currently seeking innovative ideas and proposals from organizations who would like to make use of some of the roughly 150 retiring cars, the first vehicles in the SkyTrain fleet which first hit the track in 1985.
