Supernatural Ball 2024 Vancouver

Supernatural Ball in Vancouver

  • Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024 doors at 1:00pm
  • Location: Village Studios (1022 Davie St BSMT, Vancouver)
  • Tickets: Available online now for all events

Produced by Khelsilem — Squamish Nation leader and local kiki ballroom leader, also known as Salish Siriano — the Supernatural Ball supports LGBTQ+ youth through the celebration of ballroom culture and the sharing of mutual aid. This kiki event continues the legacy of underground ballroom culture, born in New York City in the 1970s within Black and Latino LGBTQ+ communities, and now celebrated globally. Vancouver’s ballroom scene, founded in 2017 by Legendary Overall Mother Posh Gvasalia, has since blossomed, with competitive kiki houses like the House of Gvasalia, House of Andromeda, House of Siriano, and House of Mulan adding their unique voices to the movement.

This year’s Supernatural Ball is thrilled to welcome Aja 007 Miyake-Mugler, star of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 3 and HBO’s Legendary Season 3, who will guest judge, perform at the Official After Party, and lead an exclusive workshop on walking Runway in ballroom. Attendees can look forward to an extraordinary evening of battles, runway displays, and fashion categories that celebrate ballroom’s powerful cultural legacy and the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community.

Workshops

  • Date: November 15, 2024
  • Location: SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts
  • Skill-building workshops with experienced ballroom mentors, offering hands-on training for all levels of dancers and runway walkers.
  • Beyond the Runway: Ballroom Culture in Fashion and Music Artist Panel, hosted in collaboration with the SFU Vancouver Centre for Community Engagement, exploring ballroom’s deep influence on fashion, music, and LGBTQ+ culture featuring Legendary Blackcat Mulan, Mother Diseiye Juicy Couture, and Legendary Aja 007.
  • The Supernatural Official After Party, featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 3, and HBO’s Legendary Season 3, the New York drag performer Aja, with music by two of Toronto’s leading queer DJs, delivers beats to keep the energy going into the night with Legendary DJ Blackcat and Karim Olen Ash.
