Steveston Festival of Trees and More Holiday Fun

From November 30, 2024 to January 5, 2025, visit the historic Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Richmond as it is transformed into a winter wonderland. Enjoy a festive holiday wonderland at this National Historic Site, located where the river meets the sea.

Steveston Festival of Trees
- Dates: November 30, 2024 to January 5, 2025 from 10:00am to 5:00pm
- Location: Gulf of Georgia Cannery (12138 Fourth Ave, Richmond)
- Admission: Regular admission fees apply
- Adults $13.25; Seniors $11.25; Youth (17 and under) free! Society members are also free.
As is tradition, the festival will hold a friendly community competition between local partners to win the top vote for favourite tree. Voting can be done onsite (and is included in the cost of admission) or on the Facebook page between November 30th and December 31st. The winners will be announced early January.
You can also join the Cannery throughout the month for a range of activities and performances that will celebrate the diverse stories and celebrations of Steveston and its communities.
Santa at the Cannery
Enjoy live musical performances on the Cannery stage, and see Santa as he arrives for the season.

- Details: There’s free admission to the Cannery on this day, alongside festive activities which includes meeting Santa! Take your photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Cannery’s Boiler House Theatre. Registration for the Santa photos will be available onsite starting at 10:30am day-of (Sunday, December 8). Tickets are limited and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. No reservations or pre-booking available.

Fish Tales Recipe Exchange and Ornament Crafting
- Dates: November 30, 2024 to January 5, 2025, available during operating hours
- Details: Throughout the month, you are invited to share your holiday recipes and food-based holiday traditions, all while joining in Festival of Trees’ signature decorating fun. Visit the Cannery’s all-new “What’s Cooking?” Recipe Exchange wall to share your recipe and story, and to take home some new community recipes to try with your family. You can also visit the Cannery Kids Corner to create your own Fish Tales-themed tree ornament to take home.
Shopping in the Cannery Gift Shop
Looking for stocking stuffers and unique local gifts? Try the Cannery Gift Shop! From giftware and clothing from Indigenous designers, to books on local history, toys and home decor with maritime designs. There are also canned wild salmon, wild tuna, and other seafood products by St. Jean’s Cannery (Nanaimo, BC) and The Fishery Seafoods Ltd. (Duncan, BC) as well as canned, sustainably farmed sturgeon produced by Northern Divine. Society members receive 20% off regular-priced merchandise, all year round.
