City Nature Challenge Around Vancouver
Find wildlife, take a picture, and share to contribute to community science during the City Nature Challenge April 24-27, 2026. All across the Lower Mainland you can have fun in the outdoors while collecting observations which are used for monitoring biodiversity and ecological research.

How it works:
- Visit iNaturalist online or through the app and create an account
- Join the “City Nature Challenge 2026: Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD)” project
- Make observations of a wild animal, plant, or fungus from April 24 to 27, 2026
- Observations can be uploaded directly through your phone or computer through to May 10th

- Burnaby
- Friday, April 24 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Deer Lake Park and Saturday, April 25 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Deer Lake Park. Register online.
- North Vancouver
- Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 from 10:30am to 11:30am
- A guided walk and hands-on bioblitz adventure with the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre. Free! Register online.
- Sunday, April 26 at 11:00am and 1:00pm
- Join the District of North Vancouver’s Urban Forestry and Natural Areas team for a guided nature on the Baden Powell trail and Berkley Loop while identifying and documenting forest plants, fungi, and animals. Free! Register online.
- Surrey
- Saturday, April 25 from 11:00am to 12:00pm
- Join the Fraser River Discovery Centre (FRDC) for a guided nature walk around Tynehead Regional Park in Surrey. Register online.
- Vancouver
- Saturday, April 25 from 11:00am to 3:00pm
- Join Stanley Park Ecology for a BioBlitz at Beaver Lake. Free! Register online.
