This year, organizations around Metro Vancouver are hosting a variety of Diwali events, offering everything from traditional performances and art workshops, to lively cultural festivities.

Diwali Celebrations Around Vancouver
North Shore
A celebration of Diwali
- When: Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 2:30pm to 4:00pm
- Where: North Vancouver City Library (120 14th St W, North Vancouver)
- Admission: Registration requested, by drop-ins welcome if there is capacity. Join an afternoon of crafts and activities, and to learn about Diwali’s symbolism and traditions. Colourful clothing is encouraged. All are invited.
Celebrate Diwali: A Festival of Light
- When: Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm
- Where: West Vancouver Memorial Library (1950 Marine Dr, West Vancouver)
- Admission: Free – Learn about India’s largest festival through stories, yoga, dance, and crafts. Traditional treats will be provided. Children under the age of 10 must attend with a parent or caregiver.
Surrey
Diwali Downtown Surrey
- When: Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
- Where: Surrey City Hall (13450 104 Ave, Surrey)
- Admission: Free – Festivities include live music, dance performances, arts & crafts, a Diwali Storytime, food trucks and market.
Tri-Cities
Diwali in Coquitlam
- When: Friday, October 18, 2024 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
- Where: Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam)
- Admission: Free – An evening with art, music and dance.
Diwali: Festival of Lights Celebration in Port Coquitlam
- When: Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 9:30am to 5:00pm
- Where: Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Avenue)
- Admission: Free – Drop-In Workshops at Basketball Court; PT Dance Bollyjam from 9:30am to 10:30am; Kathak with Akshaya Surve from 10:45am to 12:00pm; free Art Workshop and Diwali Market at Wilson Lounge from 12:00pm onwards; free Cultural Performances to begin 2:30pm onwards at Mabbett Hall.
Vancouver
UBC Diwali Celebration
- When: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm
- Where: Terminal City Club (837 West Hastings Street, Vancouver)
- Admission: Purchase tickets online. Hosted by UBC Alumni. Includes a cocktail reception, delicious Indian buffet dinner, South Asian performances, and exciting door prizes.
Diwali Downtown Vancouver
- When: Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
- Where: Roundhouse Community Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver)
- Admission: This free event features lively south asian music, dance performances, Diwali market, food trucks and diya painting!
West End Diwali Celebration
- When: Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm
- Where: Gordon Neighbourhood House
- Admission: Tickets are available online now. The event will kick off with a soothing kirtan (meditative chanting) led by Harreson and his group from Vancouver Community Kirtan, followed by a hearty vegetarian community meal, and outdoor sparkler display.
