Arts on the Fly Benefit Concert

Last month I toured around the Cariboo and visited communities to learn about their upcoming festivals. I met creative, talented, and passionate people who, unfortunately, are in the middle of the BC wildfire devastation right now. One of the events I was set to promote was Arts on the Fly in Horsefly, BC. With a heavy heart, organizers announced that they had to cancel the event:

“Although Horsefly has power again, evacuation orders in the Cariboo are still increasing, and highways throughout the region are still closed. Our hearts go out to our friends and family affected by the wildfires, and to the firefighters working around the clock. Stay tuned for instructions to receive a refund for your ticket. We thank you for your ongoing support.”

That’s when many of the Vancouver artists who were set to perform setup a benefit concert, which will take place Saturday, July 15th at Wise Hall.

Arts on the Fly Fundraiser
Where: Wise Hall (1882 Adanac Street, Vancouver)
When: Saturday, July 15, 2017. Doors 6:30pm, music at 7:00pm
Admission: Suggested donation of $15-$20 at the door

The show will feature the following acts: Colin Easthope Music, Leathan Milne Band, Sarah Jane Scouten, Jasper Sloan Yip, The Cole Patenaude Band, Lydia Hol, Khari Wendell McClelland, Wooden Horsemen, Kitty & The Rooster, Real Ponchos, and more.

All proceeds will support those who have been affected by the wildfires, via Red Cross Canada.

Everyone is encouraged to wear their festival attire – create a mini Arts on the Fly right in Vancouver to show your support. Blankets, tents, snacks, good people and good vibes.

While there is devastation of unimaginable measure in the Cariboo right now, the artists, performers and festival-goers that were ready to get together for Arts on the Fly are just as ready to get together to support a community in need. Bring your dancing shoes, bring your smiles, and bring your support for Arts on the Fly on Saturday.
