Vancouver’s the perfect town for a cupcake competition as a) there are plenty of foodies around b) we’ve kept Cupcakes in business, and now they have their own reality series c) we’ve hosted CupcakeCamp.
The competition itself will have a panel of judges who will decide the Best Exhibitor Cupcake and there will also be a People’s Choice Award for the Best Cupcake. Each will have two categories for both chain and non-chain cupcake vendors.
Cupcake bakers from across the Lower Mainland are invited to take part by showcasing their creations, services, products and other promotional material.
It will combine a bake-off with a tradeshow for all things cupcake. Pass this along to someone you know someone in the cupcake or baking business and be sure to stop by for the challenge on the 20th.
Update June 17, 2010 As confirmed by one of the organizers in the comments below, there will be cupcake samples to purchase at the event on Sunday.

If this isn’t the event for me (to attend) I don’t know what is!!! Who doesn’t love cupcakes…not to mention I always compare my dating skills to the way I bake cupcakes…it’s always a case of under or overestimation…maybe these vendors can feed me AND teach me 😛
Thanks so much for putting this up! It will be a fun event for all ages. Hope to see you there as well.
Cheers!
Mijune
I love cupcakes!
How disappointing that they would choose to schedule this on Father’s Day! Why would the organizers do that?! This event just doesn’t really scream Fun Activity To Share With Your Dad to me…
Totally would have gone if it was any other day. Gah.
We appreciate your concern with regards to the event scheduled on Father’s Day! The Yaletown Roundhouse was completely booked this Summer, and we wanted to ensure that our guests had this great opportunity during the Wedding Season. How about picking up some fresh cupcakes before your Father’s Day celebrations?
Hope you can join us for future events!

Will there be cupcakes for sale there as well or only viewing the competition/sampling?
Hi Jen!
All companies will have cupcakes for public sampling, and most (if not all) will have cupcakes available for sale. Hope that helps!
Nicole
Best idea for a competition ever! (Although maybe there should be a door prize of a free gym membership after sampling all of the entries.)
Will there be cupcakes for sale there as well or only viewing the competition/sampling?
I know this lovely young lady that makes amazing baked creations, some with a healthy twist(whole wheat/gluten free/lactose free).
I think she is going to be at this competition, check out her blog and encourage her to join, you won’t be disappointed!
