Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival 2009
byLast year John and I were able to fully cover the Dragon Boat Festival, from land and the water. We’ll be out of town this weekend however it’s a fantastic free event for all happening June 20-21st in False Creek that is definitely worth checking out this year.
The races are fun to watch, participants are up-beat, there are entertainers, food vendors, a marketplace and there are tons of activities on the shore for the whole family. As a side note, if you’re interested in following someone who lives the Dragon Boat lifestyle, check out @PaddlingGeek on Twitter, or check out her blog.

Jordy loves the dragon boats. We sit on the False Creek seawall and watch the teams practice. It mesmerizes him!
Have a good weekend on the island.
Thanks for the mention….. From that video, I know the boat closest to the coach boat, they are from LA and I get a chance to race with them in the womens catergory (since they were short)
Hi Rebecca – thank you for mentioning the dragon boat fest. (full disclosure – I’m the PR person!) We had a blast.
BTW, we’re keeping company with @PaddlingGeek on Twitter @dragonboatbc.
Hope we’ll catch you next year!
