Developing a 30-year plan called Transport 2040, they would like to get as much public input and engagement as possible so 9 community consultation workshops will follow to discuss everything from bridges and bikeways to transit. Locations include Vancouver, Walnut Grove, Fleetwood, White Rock, Maple Ridge, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam and Richmond. You can register online for the event in your community.

TransLink has also started a website for these discussions over at Be Part of the Plan or you can get updates on Twitter @bepartoftheplan.

According to the poster, apparently our travel solution for the future is outfitting everyone with anti-gravity backpacks.

All the colourful people are saying “check out my stride!”

Great graphics! Apparently the forum is not just for hikers with backpacks, but TransLink is also responsible for cyclists, pedestrians, car drivers, container ships, bridges, transit etc -across Metro Vancouver.

I am impressed with your ambitions: but how do you plan to finance it all? We are taxed to the hilt; fuel prices are well into what may be called the extortion bracket; other travel costs are being added; the cost of living is going up; people are losing jobs; tolls and fares are increasing and the only thing that seems to remain stable is pensions and social assistance.
What is Translink going to do — start another lottery?
First, find out where your funding is coming from: then trim your budget to suit. Just don’t expect the general populace to take on any more.
