Vancouver Whitecaps FC will return to their home stadium, for the first time in 539 days, to play in front of fans at BC Place on August 21, 2021. The club says that ’Caps faithful will be able to support their team at BC Place at that match and that their second home game will be against Real Salt Lake on Sunday, August 29.

MLS teams will continue to abide by the cross-border public health protocols enacted on July 5th by the Canadian government, which are required of all individuals entering the country. In accordance with the national protocols, fully-vaccinated players and staff are not subject to a quarantine period, however, all individuals must conduct molecular COVID-19 testing prior to travel and upon arrival in Canada.
The announcement comes as MLS remains in communication with the Canadian government regarding plans for MLS Canadian teams to host their remaining home matches in Canada pursuant to a National Interest Exemption.
All three Canadian teams will be permitted to have fans and media in attendance at matches, in compliance with all national and regional guidelines.
“We are very, very excited to finally return home and play in front of our amazing supporters at BC Place,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director and chief executive officer. “A number of our players haven’t experienced the joy of playing in Vancouver with fans, so this will be a special moment. We would like to extend a big thank you to BC Place, the government, the league, and all of our partners for working closely with us to put in the safest measures possible.”
Next week, season ticket members and pack holders will receive details outlining their priority seating and an exclusive purchase window for tickets.
Season ticket members and pack holders will receive priority on tickets and can use existing credit on their accounts for any match in 2021. All remaining credit will be rolled over into 2022.
Fan friendly seating will be separated by alternating rows of empty seats to ensure a safe distance.
Single match tickets will then go on sale following the window for members. There are also a limited number of Kickoff Packs, which includes the first three matches back at BC Place for only $99.90.
Also announced earlier this week, the club was able to work with Austin FC and BC Place to reschedule the ‘Caps home match on Wednesday, July 28 to Saturday, September 4. Following the match against Minnesota United on July 31, Vancouver will return to Canada for training before three consecutive road matches to start August. The club has also moved the home match against Real Salt Lake from Saturday, August 28 to Sunday, August 29.
The Whitecaps have been out of market since the final 12 games of 2020 and the first 19 games of 2021.

The event will include daylong festivals every Friday and Saturday until the final event finale on Saturday, September 18th. These events will be free for the public and will include a splash park, giant licensed patio, artisan vendors, food trucks, and live music programming until 10:00pm daily.

Each day of Shipyards Live, Shipbuilders Square will buzz with live music from the best local talent across a wide range of styles and genres including R&B, Soul, Funk, Country, Pop, Jazz, and Brazilian Samba. Over the course of the 10 events, everyone is guaranteed to hear sounds to please their ears and get their feet moving.
Along with the music, a vibrant collection of artisans and artists will display their wares along the walk from the Seabus, from Lonsdale Quay Market, Shipyard Commons, and Shipbuilders Square. Opening weekend celebrations will include a Pride Variety Show presented by the North Shore Pride Alliance, and performances by the Shenanigans and Sambacouver.
“It is more important than ever before to find new ways to connect with the community,” said City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan. “I think at some point over the past year and a half we’ve all longed for the large social gatherings we couldn’t hold safely during the pandemic. That is why I am so pleased that Shipyards Live is able to launch safely. The City has long been committed to making our waterfront a vibrant and fun space for all people. This festival is one more way that we are making the City the place to be.”
Shipyards Live will be operated under current local, provincial, and federal health and safety guidance, and guests are encouraged to comply with all relevant regulations.

Two of the province’s most beloved (and philanthropic) brands are teaming up to raise much-needed funds for support efforts next week. On Thursday, July 29th, White Spot and Triple O’s will donate $2 from the sale of *every burger purchased to the Canadian Red Cross relief efforts for those impacted by the hundreds of wildfires currently burning in BC.

What: $2 will be donated from the sale of every burger purchased that day for dine-in and to-go orders (*excludes Pirate Paks, Kids Meals, delivery and other discounts)
In addition, the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia will each match every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross 2021 BC Fires appeal, totalling a $6 donation for every burger sold.
“The BC wildfires are having a devastating impact on our province including many of the communities in which we call home,” said Warren Erhart, President, White Spot Restaurants. “We are a community-first organization and are proud to have received immediate agreement from our family of franchisees and partners to provide support. We hope these much-needed funds will provide some relief to those who need it most during this extremely challenging time.”
In 2017, a similar fundraising initiative raised $60,000 to support BC wildfire relief efforts. This year, donations will be used for immediate and ongoing relief efforts, long-term recovery, resiliency, and preparedness for future events in British Columbia and impacted regions, including consequential events related to the fires.
July 30, 2021 UPDATE Yesterday, the fundraising efforts raised $212,574 for the Canadian Red Cross BC wildfire relief fund through the donation of $2 from every burger sold! The total dollars raised includes matched donations from the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia.
Communities across the province showed their overwhelming support at the 96 White Spot and Triple O’s locations and onboard the 11 BC Ferries offering White Spot. From individuals buying their favourite burger, to corporate offices hosting White Spot burger lunches for their entire team, guests came in droves and the show of support from BC has been heartwarming for all.
They brought so much light to city spaces during a dark time and now there will be more of them to love! The Vancouver Mural Festival (“VMF”) has announced three weeks of in-person and online events along with over 60 new murals and over 40 live shows as part of this summer’s celebration.
