The culinary team at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (PICA) is known for its fun pop-culture mash ups (like “The Bear” themed dinners) and this time they’re taking on the City of Light with an Emily in Paris pop-up dinner and cooking class series in Vancouver.
Emily in Paris Season 4 Pop-Up Dinners
According to the Hollywood Reporter, up until season four, episodes usually began in December, however with the Paris 2024 Olympics taking over the city this summer, production took place in January and wrapped in May. Netflix announced that Emily in Paris season four would be split into two, five-episode parts, with part one premiering on August 15th and part two dropping on September 12th.
The pop-up dinners will take place Thursday, August 29th, Thursday, September 19th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm so fans will have time to get caught up and then enjoy the themed dining experience.
The menu includes an amuse, four courses, and a dessert course with crème brûlée, madeleines, pain au chocolat, and macarons. Make your reservations here for August 29th and September 19th for $139 per person, plus tax. Due to the nature of this special event, PICA is unable to accommodate dietary restrictions and menu substitutions may occur due to availability. At check out, please indicate if you would like to be seated with another ticket buyer by providing their first and last name.
There will also be a Cooking Class offered on Saturday, September 14th (10:00am to 2:00pm) and a Pastry & Dessert Class (10:00am to 2:00pm) on Saturday, September 21st.
“Whether you’re a new viewer, a long-time lover of Emily’s exploits in the City of Light or just a fan of French cuisine, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy in these pop-up dinners and classes,” says PICA President & Owner Sylvia Potvin.
Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts was founded in 1997 and is located at the entrance of Granville Island, one of Vancouver’s most iconic tourism and hospitality destinations. Follow on Facebook for more info.
Triple O’s is serving up a special treat menu for our furry friends starting around International Dog Day this month.
New Menu for Dogs at Triple O’s
The new Pup Menu launches on August 19th with new dog-friendly treats available at drive-thru locations in BC, Alberta, and Ontario. The Triple O’s Pup Menu features two items that will make tails wag with joy:
Pup Patty: A 4oz 100% fresh Canadian Beef patty, cooked to perfection with a dash of salt and pepper. Unseasoned patties are available upon request for more sensitive pups.
Pup “Shake”: A delightful 4oz cup of real whipped cream, the perfect sweet treat for deserving dogs.
The Pup Menu is available exclusively at Triple O’s drive-thru restaurants; pets are not allowed in the dining area (unless they are service or guide dogs). Not valid at White Spot full-service restaurants, BC Ferries, PNE, Royal Alex Hospital, Aldergrove Community Centre, YVR, arenas, or universities.
Dietary consideration: Please note the Pup “Shake” contains dairy, and the Pup Patty is seasoned with salt and pepper (though it can be requested unseasoned). The Triple O’s Pup Menu is intended as a special treat and not to replace your pet’s daily dietary requirements. It should be enjoyed in moderation as some pets are more sensitive than others.

There’s a new sign outside the Vancouver Convention Centre positioned perfectly for selfies — and for promoting the upcoming Vancouver Whistler 2025 Invictus Games. The I AM Vancouver Whistler campaign launched in July to encourage people to spread the word about the games by registering for ceremonies tickets, signing up for the newsletter, and building a buzz.
I AM Vancouver Whistler 2025 Invictus Games
This is the first of ten larger-than-life striking black and yellow interactive signs, featuring the Games’ signature visual identity, created by Four Host First Nations artists: Levi Nelson (Lil’wat Nation), Mack Paul (Musqueam Nation), Ray Natraoro (Squamish Nation), and Olivia George (TsleilWaututh Nation).
Each sign offers a super-sized inspirational backdrop for an I AM photo or video and a scannable QR code to access the dedicated website which asks: “The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 are coming. The Games will bring together wounded, injured and sick military service members and Veterans from around the world on a courageous journey of recovery through the healing power of sport. Their inspiration? I AM Unconquered. I AM Invictus. On your journey, what’s your I AM?“
I AM is the motto for the Invictus Games and is inspired by the last two lines of the poem Invictus by English poet William Ernest Henley: “I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.” It reflects and defines the Invictus Games’ core purpose: to provide a platform for personal achievement, to compete not just against each other, but against oneself.
Nine similar I AM interactive signs will be popping up in prominent and well-loved Vancouver and Whistler locations leading up to the Games (sites to be announced soon).
#ShareYourIAM
All ten I AM signs were manufactured in Canada, the first (and only) illuminated I AM sign being the largest at 10’w x 8’h x 6’d, weighing 976lbs. The subsequent nine signs will each measure 10’w x 8’h x 3’d and weigh just over 400lbs.
