Chapters Indigo Fall Gift Guide & Giveaway

Wicked, by Gregory Maguire is a fantastic read (all of his books are, really).
Everyone should read The Golden Spruce if you’re at all interested in the north west coast!
Currently, I am reading The Third Man Factor” by John Geigor. It’s fascinating. If you like extreme sport, this is a book about the experiences people have had during life & death situations in extreme sports (mountaineering, caving, etc.) where they’ve sensed or experienced there’s a prescence or “third man” that helped them survive.
Game of Thrones series, of course!
“The Help” by Kathryn Stockett
The Life of Pi is an excellent easy read and soon to be a movie.
Bridget Jones is the funniest book I’ve ever read 🙂

I did love “Water for Elephants”. All the fun of running away with the circus and none of the poop! And you get points for Canadian content!
I loved the Night Circus…quite surprisingly!

Germs, Guns, & Steel by Jarod Diamond. Great history read of the evolution of man, and the historical, cultural, environmental reasons behind European dominance of the world in the medieval ages.
Everyone should read An Awesome Book by Dallas Clayton.
I really enjoyed “The science of Leonardo” by Fritjof Capra. Interesting what Leonardo Da Vinci invented in his time. most of it remained hidden in his notes though.
The Magicians by Lev Grossman!
Utopia. A very old book, I found it very difficult to read, but interesting and has yet to be achieved.
‘Still Alice’ is an excellent book….well written and thought provoking.

Superfudge by Judy Blume, is my all time favourite book.
Not too many kids’ books posted yet. I choose Wonder by R. J. Palacio? Wonder is about a boy with a disfigurement who attends school (5th grade) for the first time. I think the book has Newberry potential. Story is told through various points of view that all cleverly weave together.
What I wish I knew when I was 21 is a lovely book. Inspiring as well.

“Stanley Park” could not be more topical these days given Vancouver’s growing food scene.
It’s a book I was given by my mother when I was a little girl, but it’s ‘My Blue Country’ by O.R. Melling. Talks about a group of Canadian youth travelling to Malaysia to learn about the culture, and how to adapt, while maturing into young adults.
Two must reads for me are The Life of Pi and A Fine Balance. Both Amazing books…

Margaret Atwood’s Oryx and Crake is an awesome blend of not-so-far-fetched science (she based most of it on current research) and apocalyptic goodness. Also – 7 habits of highly effective people is pretty much a game changer. One of the only books I’ve ever wanted to read more than once.

To Kill a Mockingbird is still the greatest book I’ve ever read – love the lessons you learn and the way the characters have withstood the test of time – Who didn’t want to be Scout and who hasn’t had a Boo Radley they misunderstood in life?
I highly recommend Pewter Angels by Henry Ripplinger. He is an amazing Canadian writer that I think everyone should know about!
