Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler Competitions Update

Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler Competitions Update
The Games officially opened on Saturday with a ceremony at BC Place then on Sunday, Team Israel won gold vs Team USA in Wheelchair Basketball, and Team Unconquered scored bronze. There was also an Invictus proposal on Wheelchair Basketball court, as James Cairns, of Team UK, proposed to his girlfriend after play. In Wheelchair Curling, South Korea got the gold medal over the United Kingdom.
Tuesday was the single busiest day in Whistler with five sport competitions spread across three venues. From Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding to Nordic, Biathlon, and Skeleton, competitors pushed their limits and captivated the crowds.
Competitors from Team Ukraine, Colombia, USA, Canada, Georgia, Estonia, Italy, Germany, France, Poland, Lithuania, Denmark, UK, Belgium, New Zealand and Australia secured top three finishes across multiple events, showcasing incredible skill, determination and spirit on a thrilling day of competition in Whistler. Today included emotional finishes, history-making victories, and a testament to resilience, teamwork, and the power of sport to help heal.
Host Nation Team Canada garnered 11 medals during competition at Whistler Olympic Park and Whistler Alpine Venue.
- Lee Jarratt earned a Silver medal in Women’s Novice IAS1 – Sit Ski (Alpine Skiing)
- Jérôme Boisvert-Boucher raced to a Silver medal in Men’s Int-Adv IN04 – Open (Nordic)
- Justin McDonald pushed it to the limit for Bronze in Men’s Novice IBI4 – Open (Biathlon)
- Guillaume Durand thrilled the home crowd with a Silver in Men’s Int-Adv IBI4 – Open (Biathlon)
- Shan Mulford won the Gold in Women’s INT-Adv IBI4 – Open (Biathlon)
- Kim Hardy won the Silver in ISK2 Single Run (Skeleton)
- Assunta Aquino earned a Gold medal in Women’s Int-Adv IAS4 – Open & MFI (Alpine Skiing)
- Mark Beare secured a Bronze medal in Men’s Int-Adv IAS4 – Open & MFI
- Adria Brochu took home a Silver medal Women’s Int-Adv IAS1- Sit Ski
- Janie Duguay won a Gold medal in Women’s Int-Adv IAS1 – Sit Ski
- Jeffrey Becker secured a Bronze medal in Men’s Int-Adv ISB5 – Open & MFI

Upcoming Events
Tonight, it’s the Wheelchair Rugby final at the Vancouver Convention Centre with France and the United Kingdom going for gold, and the United States and Australia playing for bronze. Competitors take to the pool at the UBC Aquatics Centre on Friday, with 50m and 100m freestyle, breaststroke, and relay events. On Saturday teams are back at the Vancouver Convention Centre for Sitting Volleyball. The final events on Sunday are Indoor Rowing, at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
