While it’s a world-class, and renown winter playground, Whistler sure is fun in the summer! From alpine hikes and the Sunday farmers market, to mountain biking, live music and zipline adventures. Of course you’ll want a solid home base for all of your adventures (whether they take place on the peak or poolside) and I recently got to experience the hospitality at Four Seasons Whistler.

Summer Beer-B-Qs at Four Seasons Whistler

You have your luxurious stay at the Four Seasons (with spa, fitness room, gorgeous mountain views, poolside Moet Cabanas) and then you have the biggest, best, most delicious Beer-B-Q you can imagine!

Foodie Weekend at Four Seasons Whistler

SIDECUT at the Four Seasons Whistler has partnered with local craft breweries to present the Beer-B-Q in the courtyard every Thursday this summer from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. $39 gets you in for all-you-can-eat deliciousness! ($19 for kids 5-12, kids 5 and under are free).

Giant open pit barbecues roast up salmon, pulled pork, chimichurri steaks, roasted ribs, brisket, served up in cast iron paella pans on the terrace. The salad bar is extensive including local pickled items, beets, and a fennel salad my friend Michelle couldn’t get enough of. There’s also classic barbecue fare like corn on the cob, baked potatoes, beans, and cornbread.

Did I mention the doughnut wall? Dessert is included too.

You don’t need to be a Four Seasons guest to enjoy Beer-B-Q, all are welcome, but you’ll definitely want to stay a while after this feast!

Patio Camper

This adorable feature next to the fire pit in the courtyard is open daily from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

Distinctly local, the Patio Camper will be serving up craft beers, sangria and local ciders all summer long in the Resort’s gorgeous outdoor courtyard. Handcrafted in Vancouver suburb, Port Moody in 1965, the cute-as-button retro camper takes guests on a local road trip with its welcoming vibe and flavours of British Columbia.

From Vancouver to the Okanagan Valley, the Patio Camper offers a local taste of summer thanks to Red Truck Beer’s blackberry bourbon ale, West Coast Cider’s Sunset and Sunrise ciders and sophisticated sangria in hues of red, white and pink made with wines from Penticton’s Pentage Winery.

The vintage camper has enjoyed a facelift from Whistler’s own visionary, Ola Smazynski of Flock Events and simply looks stunning. The Patio Camper is the perfect place to set up shop for an afternoon or evening of cozy drinks with friends and fellow travelers.

Adjacent to Four Seasons courtyard fireplace, inviting couches and chairs, warmed with blankets, throw pillows, greenery, flowers, music and warm string lights. Food Service is available from the adjacent SIDECUT restaurant who has launched an array of fun and fresh dishes for the summer season.

Spirit of the Mountains Cocktails

“Salt is to chefs like sugar is to bartenders. We don’t add sugar to make it sweet, it’s for balance,” celebrity mixologist Lauren Mote told my group as we were introduced to the Four Seasons’ Spirit of the Mountain cocktail lineup. She crafted original cocktails with a twist, inspired by mountain groups of each hemisphere, and the SIDECUT team serves them up with flare.

The Third Pole was my favourite, with Bulleit bourbon whiskey, artichoke amaro, chaga tea with cardamom and sarsaparilla bark, lemon, Kensington aromatic bitters. However, you can’t miss the Volcan de Fuego smoke show with Zacapa 23 YO rum, Amontillado sherry, cherry and amaro, Suius cherry bitters, applewood smoke, or the Sunda Punch with Don Julio Blanco tequila, bitter liqueur and aged sake, lime, pineapple and sugar, Moondog latin bitters, bloomed with lime leaves, lemongrass and Thai basil.

While You’re in Whistler

I got a sneak peek at the new POP exhibit at the Audain Art Museum in Whistler, just a 5 minute walk from the Four Seasons. Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol are featured with 37 works drawn from the Smithsonian American Art Museum collection (until September 17, 2018) along with a local pop art gallery.

Walk through over 250 years of art production in British Columbia. Audain’s personal collection of Emily Carr works are on display, long with carvings, First Nations artifacts and newly commissioned works, contemporary pieces and more.

As soon as I walked into the stunningly designed structure nestled quietly between the trees, I was blown away. Not only is the building gorgeous, but the quality of the exhibitions and galleries are top notch.
