Whether you make Oliver your home base for your South Okanagan explorations, or you have a specific itinerary in mind, my recent explorations with ZenSeekers have given me some insights that I’m happy to share that will make your trip-planning a breeze.

Art in Oliver

When driving north or south through the Okanagan, Highway 97 will turn into Oliver’s Main Street, which is lined with boutiques and eateries. You’ll also find several galleries, and even art exhibits located in shops and the local day spa. To see all of Oliver’s art in one place, plan a trip to the annual Art Walk or the Festival of the Grape Art Show.

Wine in Oliver

Oliver is the Wine Capital of Canada and with over 35 wineries, located on the legendary Golden Mile, Black Sage Bench, and picturesque places in between, wine touring is a must. You can combine art & wine at locations like Rust Wine Co., which has their own gallery, or Quinta Ferreira where you can find resident artist Carmen Tome.

Hike Oliver

I walked along the Kettle Valley Railroad’s KVR trail – which connects to the Okanagan Rail Trail — an epic 50km path that runs from Oliver to Kelowna, and up through Vernon. Rhoda from the Oliver Visitor Centre also recommended hiking Nçaylintn (Ny-lin-tin) Bluff Hiking Trail (formerly McIntyre Bluff). The bluff can be seen throughout the valley – just imagine the views from its peak!
