The Vancouver Retro Gaming Expo (VRGE) returns to the Anvil Centre in New Westminster on June 20th featuring a variety of guests, games, vendors, music, and experiences for attendees of all ages.

“With the FIFA World Cup happening during our event this year, we decided to incorporate some fun retro soccer-related content alongside our usual show elements. It’s our 13th year and we’re still finding fun new ways to keep the show exciting and fresh.” says Show Director Brian Hughes, owner of Gamedeals Video Games which is currently celebrating 20 years of business in Downtown New Westminster.
Guest panels this year include Victor Lucas, creator and host of The Electric Playground; J.J. McCullough, a well known Canadian political and cultural YouTuber; and Bogdan Banasiewicz, FIFA enthusiast producer and developer at EA Sports. Also returning are local improv group The Fictionals, Fandom Trivia, mascot characters from HappyLand, tournaments hosted by Phantom Alley Gaming, There Is No Easy Mode, and the ever-popular costume contest.
There will also be a lineup of rock, ska, and jazz musical performances on stage. Attendees can expect to hear chiptunes, classic video game soundtracks, and other retro-inspired music.
The Chilliwack Retro Computing Club will be showcasing their collections of vintage computers and consoles, there will be small exhibit from the Canadian Video Game Museum, and don’t miss Final Fantasy Improv. Follow on Facebook for updates.
