Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade and Festival

Thousands will gather in the heart of South Vancouver on Saturday, April 12th to celebrate Vaisakhi with the annual parade and festival to mark an important religious occasion for the Sikh community.

Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade and Festival

  • Date: Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 11:00am to 5:00pm
  • Location: Starting from Ross Street at Marine Drive, Vancouver
  • Admission: Free for everyone in the community

Vaisakhi celebrates the creation of the Khalsa, a spiritual order founded by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, a defining moment in Sikh history. Vaisakhi also marks the beginning of the spring harvest in Punjab.

The Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade (presented by Khalsa Diwan Society Ross Street) is one of the largest Sikh parades in the world. Attendees of all races and cultures are welcome at this celebratory and rich cultural event, which features a large number of floats, community performers and live music. The Vancouver event has been held annually since 1979, with a pause during the pandemic.

From Ross Street and Marine Drive, to Main Street. North on Main Street to 49th Avenue, west to Fraser. South on Fraser to 57th, and over to Ross Street again. View a map online.

Road Closures and Traffic Notices

To help with the parade, there will be road closures from 10:00am to 6:00pm in the following areas: 

  • Main Street closed from E 49th Avenue to SE Marine Drive  
  • Fraser Street closed from E 41st Avenue to SE Marine Drive  
  • Westbound SE Marine Drive closed from Knight Street to Main Street  
  • 57th Avenue closed from Knight Street to Ontario Street 

Attendees are encouraged to:

  • Walk, bike, roll or take transit if possible.   
  • Be mindful of road closures and give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go.  
  • Put waste in its place: use the nearest garbage bin or take your waste home with you. Extra waste bins will be provided for this event.    
  • Be respectful of the neighbourhood and keep noise to a minimum.
