Following two sold-out shows in December, IndigE-girl Comedy will take to the Just for Laughs Vancouver stage next week, joined by Māori comedians in a cross-cultural exchange — and you can enter to win tickets!

Kura Turuwhenua and Janaye Henry from New Zealand will join the celebrated all-female Indigenous comedy collective in Vancouver, then later in the month IndigE-girl Comedy will head to the Te Kōhanga o Auaha (New Zealand Fringe Festival).

Get ready for the ultimate Auntie takeover as IndigE-girl Comedy features some of Canada’s best Indigenous comedians with two hilariously sharp minds in Māori comedy. Hosted by Debbie Courchene, the lineup includes Ticia Aks, Alana Obey, Savannah Erasmus, Cheyenna “Shy” Sapp, Kura Turuwhenua, and Janaye Henry.

IndigE-girl Comedy at New Zealand Fringe Festival

After lighting up the stage in Vancouver, IndigE-girl Comedy will cross the Pacific to headline at the Te Kōhanga o Auaha (New Zealand Fringe Festival) from February 26 to March 1, 2025, where Kura Turuwhenua and Janaye Henry will share their sharp wit and “Big Auntie Energy” with New Zealand audiences. The show promises a hilarious and heartfelt celebration of Indigenous women’s strength, resilience, and unapologetic humor.

Debbie Courchene, Nicole Etitiq and Cheyenna “Shy” Sapp will travel to New Zealand in late February, continuing their cultural exchange through performances and festival participation, further strengthening the bond between Indigenous comedic voices in Canada and New Zealand.
