About the Cause

The Take a Hike Foundation empowers youth who experience vulnerability to change the trajectory of their lives with a full-time mental health and emotional well-being program embedded in an alternate education classroom.

Take a Hike engages youth with intentional clinical counselling, land-based learning, and community.

With the programs, youth build strong relationships and gain the skills and resilience they need to graduate high school and achieve success however they define it. They operate in 15 school districts across BC including our newest programs in Penticton (Okanagan Skaha), Mission, and Coquitlam. Last year, 3 out 4 youth in program felt that they:

  • Had strong feelings of belonging with their peers and adults in the classroom
  • Felt Take a Hike was place where they could safely express themselves
  • Felt that they had gained the skills needed to better cope with their mental health
  • Felt that they had developed the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the workplace

By 2028, TAH is striving to empower even more youth by expanding to 25 programs serving up to 500 youth. Give today to change the lives of vulnerable youth in our communities.
