The Stanley Park Ecology Society is holding its own Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 27th at Lost Lagoon to support one of the planet’s most important ecosystems: wetlands

Earth Day in Stanley Park

When: Saturday April 27, 2019 at 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Where: Stanley Park Nature House
Admission: Register online

In Stanley Park, our wetlands include Lost Lagoon, Beaver Lake,Ceperley Creek and all the freshwater spaces of the Park. These vital habitats act as nurseries, buffets, and shelter for a diversity of organisms including the Park’s Tree Swallows, Great Blue Herons, and a myriad of birds, amphibians and mammals like beavers and otters.

Pitch in to support your Park’s wetlands with some hands-on invasive plant pulls, invasive yellow flag iris weaving, and Tree Swallow data collection around Lost Lagoon.

Bring your binoculars for a tour of the heron colony with our naturalists, or learn about Indigenous uses of plants on a special walking tour led by Kushi opi mani wi of the Cowichan tribes. Kids will enjoy readings from the book “Bee Friend” followed by planting sessions in the pollinator garden. Enjoy Earth cookies and complimentary coffee from Ethical Bean.

Follow the Stanley Park Ecology Society on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more information.
