Going green has never looked so chic! April is Earth Month and to celebrate CF Pacific Centre has partnered with Vancouver’s annual sustainable fashion event, Eco Fashion Week, to raise awareness for environmental and economically sustainable consumption. From April 14 to 30, CF Pacific Centre will host and display high-fashion looks from eight local Eco Fashion Week (“EFW”) designers as part of EFW’s Chic Sheets Bed Linen Challenge.

Using inspiration from French fashion house Balmain, the eco-challenge tasked local designers to transform used bed linens, supplied by the Fairmont Waterfront, into beautiful recycled pieces of Balmain-inspired fashion.

The final looks will be staged at CF Pacific Centre starting April 14th on a runway made entirely of re-purposed fluorescent tube lighting. The showcase will be located on Level M2, outside of H&M. Shoppers are encouraged to vote for their favourite looks online at ecofashion-week.com and share photos on social media using the hashtags #ChicSheets, #CFPC4Earth, and #EFW.

CF Pacific Centre‘s involvement with Eco Fashion Week is one component of its broader sustainability initiatives. Green at Work, Cadillac Fairview’s national sustainability operational program, is continuously growing its reputation as a sustainability leader.

In 2015, the Green at Work program helped CF Pacific Centre to:

  • Divert 91.2 percent, or 713 metric tons of waste from the landfill.
  • Recycle 0.74 metric tons in lights, which is enough tube lighting to line the Stanley Park seawall.
  • Reduce overall energy consumption by 3.9 percent year over year, exceeding its 2.5 per cent target reduction.

Eco Fashion Week is the world’s largest sustainable fashion event, celebrating its 10th edition in Vancouver this month. It features a collection of speaker seminars, industry panels, and, of course, fashion shows. Follow EFW on Facebook and Twitter for more information.

Follow CF Pacific Centre on Facebook and Twitter, and stop by to place your #ChicSheets vote by April 30, 2016.
