Paralympic Sledge Hockey Tickets

The Paralmypics are in full swing and with two wins under their belt, our Sledge Hockey team is picking up the pace. The action on the ice is fast, hard-hitting, and the skills required to excel in this sport are unmatched.

During my Vancouver 2010 Olympics coverage I ran a contest for men’s Ice Hockey tickets, which ended up being the most popular in Miss604.com history. With over 1,400 entries the prize sponsor, BC Hydro, felt it would be a good idea to run another campaign for my readers.

BC Hydro has given me two pairs (meaning I’ll have two sets of winners) to the men’s gold medal Sledge Hockey game taking place March 20th at 12:00pm.

      I’ve been watching sledge hockey on the Paralympics Live TV website, but I’m upset that all the games have not been televised.       I agree with previous posters in that there’s not enough coverage of the Paralympic Games. If it was broadcast on tv regularly, more people would be excited about all the Paralympic events.

      I try to watch as many Paralympic events as possible on http://www.paralympicsport.tv and I am rooting for our Canadian sledge hockey team as well. It would be amazing to go to the Gold Medal sledge hockey game.

      This is a great idea! So much focus is placed on the Olympic Games that it is easy for the Paralympics to get lost in the shuffle. I’m glad to see that there is so much interest and support!

      After volunteering for both the Olympics and Paralympics I finally was able to see a sporting event. My ticket was for M/W Super G; sitting and visually impaired classifications. Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions the event was changed to M/W Slalom; standing classification, but no worries I was attending a live Paralympic event! Wow what a great experience and what amazing athletes! The crowd was wild! The icing on the cake – Canada won both Gold and Bronze in the Womens event. I had a great day and the German Alpine sit-skier I met went on to win Gold the following day!

      I’d love to take my 6 yo to see this. He’s a hockey fanatic. But the thing that I think is so fantastic is he and his friends don’t blink an eye at the amazing things paralympic athletes can do. That’s the big legacy of Terry Fox, Rick Hansen and all the athletes that have come after them is in a generation our society has changed its attitude enough that it sees achievement rather than ability/disability.
