Taste of Yaletown 2009

Kicking off tomorrow, October 15th and running until the 31st, Taste of Yaletown and its 22 participating restaurants will be tantalizing palates and inviting you to try something new. Last night I got to sample some of the lovely three-course dinners ranging from $25 to $45.

Elixir
Our appetizer menu was served at Elixir at the Opus Hotel and presented by Chef Don Letendre. Nothing short of making the taste buds sing, the warm smoked ham hock salad with potato, parsley and sherry vinaigrette was perfectly paired with Spatlese Riesling. [Menu details]

R.TL
Next, I made my way to R.TL (Regional Tasting Lounge) for the main course. I’ve walked past this restaurant many times, but never went in, so this was the perfect opportunity. We were greeted by general Manager Alain Conuel to an intimate and classy atmosphere. Cooked exquisitely, the pan-seared red snapper with ras-al-hanout rub and Israeli couscous tabouleh is something you definitely want to experience. [Menu details]

Earls
Last but not least, Earls had us taste Dr.’s Orders, a martini that blends the good (Acai) with the bad (blueberry vodka) into a must-have. Accompany this by a Toblerone brownie with a warm, soft melted chocolate middle and vanilla ice cream on top, and you have a winner! [Menu details]

    Either Hedwig or Rebecca but what spot(s) should I make time for?

    Consider I have a fairly simple palette…

    @Mack – Urban Thai is one of my favourites, I used to go there for lunch all the time.

    We recently went to Hurricane Grill for a Canucks game too and it had a great warm/casual atmosphere by the water.

    For a treat, I’d try Goldfish as in my experience they have very generous portions.

    Love Thai so will probably give that one a shot.

    And I like generous portions so I’ll probably give Goldfish a shot too!
