Riverdance – The 20th Anniversary World Tour is composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Moya Doherty and directed by John McColgan. Riverdance – The 20th Anniversary World Tour will feature new costumes, new lighting, new projections and the addition of a brand new number, “Anna Livia,” featuring the female members of the Irish dance troupe in an a cappella hard-shoe number.

For over 20 years, nothing has carried the energy, the sensuality and the spectacle of Riverdance. Riverdance began its journey as the interval act in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, produced for television by Moya Doherty. This electrifying and innovative seven minute dance piece was then developed into a full-length stage show by Producer Moya Doherty, Composer Bill Whelan and Director John McColgan. With its fusion of Irish and International music and dance, the show broke all box office records during its world première run in Dublin in early 1995.

Where: The Imperial Theatre (319 Main St, Vancouver)
Tickets: Tickets are $99 and are available for purchase online. Each guest will receive an AG Hair goodie bag of products valued at $85, a complimentary drink and delicious appetizers from award-winning No Fixed Address Catering.

All proceeds from the night are going to One Girl Can, an organization that gives girls in Africa the opportunity to reach their dreams through education.

The evening will include an exciting live and silent auction, and a powerful video with stories from the girls themselves.

Last year’s #IWANT2BE event raised more than $336,000, which went towards building science labs and sourcing equipment to encourage female studies in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). This year’s event aims to raise funds for 95 high school and 85 university scholarships for girls in Kenya and Uganda.

About One Girl Can

One Girl Can’s mission is to empower girls through education to break the cycle of poverty and gender inequality. The organization does so by sponsoring girls and investing in their education from the time that they leave primary school right up until they find meaningful employment.
