I have been to Parksville Uncorked twice, and it was the perfect event for each trip. The first was during our 5th wedding anniversary a few years ago, which was an incredibly romantic getaway. The second was with my sister last year for a girls weekend. Again, it was a balanced and relaxing weekend by the sea with really fun wine and food themed events.

Q1. What were your first impressions of Stewart?
ABBY: Stewart had me in awe before evening reaching the final destination. The whole Kitimat-Stikine region is breathtaking. Pristine spines, glimmering glaciers and the smell of ocean area all meet in Stewart and believe it or not it’s even more magical than it sounds.

Q2. Who was your best local resource for info?
ABBY: The Boardertown Snowbomber Snowmobile Club has the heartbeat on snow conditions, avalanche safety and love to point you in the right direction when it comes to having fun in the Stewart Backcountry. We can’t thank enough for an incredible time.

Q3. What did you find most surprising/unexpected?
ABBY: I knew that there were glaciers galore here, but I didn’t realize 100m from the road you can touch the toe of an active glacier. The accessibility to ‘wild’ is everywhere.
