I have been to Parksville Uncorked twice, and it was the perfect event for each trip. The first was during our 5th wedding anniversary a few years ago, which was an incredibly romantic getaway. The second was with my sister last year for a girls weekend. Again, it was a balanced and relaxing weekend by the sea with really fun wine and food themed events.

Q&A About the Stewart and the Kitimat-Stikine Region
Q1. What were your first impressions of Stewart? ABBY: Stewart had me in awe before evening reaching the final destination. The whole Kitimat-Stikine region is breathtaking. Pristine spines, glimmering glaciers and the smell of ocean area all meet in Stewart and believe it or not it’s even more magical than it sounds.
Q2. Who was your best local resource for info? ABBY: The Boardertown Snowbomber Snowmobile Club has the heartbeat on snow conditions, avalanche safety and love to point you in the right direction when it comes to having fun in the Stewart Backcountry. We can’t thank enough for an incredible time.

Q3. What did you find most surprising/unexpected? ABBY: I knew that there were glaciers galore here, but I didn’t realize 100m from the road you can touch the toe of an active glacier. The accessibility to ‘wild’ is everywhere.

Q4. What is a can’t-miss in Stewart? ABBY: Alaska is 6km away from Stewart, pack your passport to hop the border to experience Hyder Alaska!
Q5. What was the most Instagram-worthy moment or place? ABBY: EVERYWHERE! But I must pick, it’s at the Salmon or Bear Glacier.
Q6. What would make you go back again and again? ABBY: I’ll never be done exploring Stewart. I cannot wait to go further and further into the backcountry here both for sledding, backcountry skiing and plain ole adventure!

Q1. What were your first impressions of Terrace? ABBY: A thrilling destination. Terrace is a mountainous adventure hub nestled next to the coast that makes me giddy every time I hear its name.
Q2. Who was your best local resource for info? ABBY: Terrace power couple, Brad and Kim Zeerip own and operate Skeena Riverhouse’s B&B, but that’s certainly not all. Two of the most outdoor world connected folk in town Brad and Kim know where the snow stashes are and just about everything else in Terrace!

Q3. What did you find most surprising/unexpected? ABBY:Fishing in winter, who knew?! Our guide Rob Bryce lead us to the most serene fishing spot for a peaceful morning on the river. The crisp air and white snow was the perfect way to start the day.
Q4. What is a can’t-miss in Terrace? ABBY:Shames Resort. Known as one of the snowiest places on earth you cannot do Terrace with out a visit to Shames!

Q5. What was the most Instagram-worthy moment or place? ABBY: Sunrise from the Skeena Riverhouse. Kim and Brad serve a hot breakfast as the sun lights up the valley and flowing Skeena river. Inside or out, you’ll be impressed with the show.

Q6. What would make you go back again and again? ABBY: SNOW. There’s just so much of it consistently that you’re guaranteed a good time on the slopes of Shames.
