The outdoor cinematic spectacle that lit up Vancouver’s Cambie Bridge in the summer of 2017, is back and on the move. This time, UNINTERRUPTED VR from a City Bridge is in Virtual Reality with synchronized, outdoor VR for small audiences.
UNINTERRUPTED VR from a City Bridge
UNINTERRUPTED brings a little community connection back – safely – to local neighbourhoods after a long year of pandemic restrictions. The site-specific work that thrilled residents and visitors alike is now swimming in 3D and touring cities throughout Metro Vancouver in VR. No need to own a headset – one will be provided for you. The event is designed so audiences of twenty can be immersed in the experience together, while apart.
With breathtaking images set to an original score, and no narration, UNINTERRUPTED maps the extraordinary migration of Pacific salmon on a city bridge in a unique 30-minute visual and sound experience. With visual poetry, it inspires audiences to reflect on the intersection of urban life and nature.
It’s going to be a HOT one! And by hot, meteorologists don’t mean ‘warmer than a usual Juneuary stretch of rain’, we’re going beyond that. From Saturday to Monday we could potentially shatter a 123-year-old record for the hottest day recorded in June in Vancouver. With that in mind, here are a few things to do in Vancouver this weekend that will hopefully keep you cool, and entertained. Don’t forget to hydrate and slather on the sunscreen if you head outside.

The City of Surrey launched the third phase of public engagement for the new Surrey Transportation Plan which will outline a long-range vision for a Surrey of a million residents, articulate a decision-making framework, and identify transportation priorities for the next 10 years.
Surrey Transportation Plan
Between June 15 and July 30, 2021, the City is asking citizens to participate in a survey to provide feedback on a draft vision statement, and potential impacts and trade-offs related to four primary indicators (Bold Moves). The draft vision is: Connecting a million people and places with convenient and green transportation choices for all. The four primary indicators are:
1. Put safety first
Value human life above all else in the transportation network by building streets that prioritize safety over the movement of vehicles.
2. Support 15-minute neighbourhoods
Complete the walk and bike networks for all Surrey residents that live within an easy walk or roll of their daily needs.
3. Connect communities with rapid transit
Build a Rapid Transit Network that supports and connects all of Surrey’s communities.
4. Invest in green transportation choices
Strengthen the multi-modal grid by prioritizing walking, cycling and transit before personal vehicles.
The new plan will replace the current transportation strategic plan developed in 2008 and focus on growing the transportation network, tackling the climate crisis, prioritizing safety, balancing equity and leveraging new technology.
Feedback Wanted
The City is seeking public input on the proposed draft vision, and Bold Moves including potential trade-offs, to help them prioritize key transportation investments over the next 10 years. Take the survey online for your chance to win a $100 gift card.
