I’m in New York this week to hang out, explore, work, wander, and do a whole lot of walking. Since Keira and I are already half-way through our journey, I thought it was time for a photo post so that I can share some of our adventures so far.

This week’s Theatre Profile and ticket giveaway features Stripes: The Mystery Circus – a “radically unique one woman show celebrating the comic circus of life.”

Stripes: The Mystery Circus is a play about an audition that humorously and touchingly goes awry. Stripes is a delightful theatrical spectacle that invites you to “map your imagination, chart your emotional life, sculpt your fears, paint your dreams…locate yourself.”

The performance is by Sarah Hayward who has actually been invited to the International New York Fringe Festival this summer. This is a great opportunity to see her in Mystery Circus before she goes.

Music Waste is an annual art, comedy, and music festival taking place this year June 2nd until the 6th.

There will be over 100 bands at dozens of venues including three comedy revues, eight art exhibitions, a bowling party, and a park BBQ with a basketball tournament. All venues are within walking distance and full festival passes are only $15. This is one of Vancouver’s top home-grown cultural festivals.

A full schedule of events is available on the website and you can purchase passes from any of the following establishments:

Zoo Zhop (223 Main Street), Neptoon Records (3561 Main Street), Audiopile (2016 Commercial Drive), Zulu Records (1972 W 4th Ave), Scratch Records (726 Richards Street), and Redcat Records (4332 Main Street).

While Vancouver isn’t hosting an official Sex and the City 2 Movie premiere, like the one at Radio City Music Hall in New York last night, there will definitely be chances to party.

The Opus Hotel is hosting a VIP reception and fashion show on Thursday, May 27th to celebrate the film’s release and I have two tickets to give away for this event.

The party will have door prizes, Skky cocktails, canapes, shopping and more. Sarah Bancroft, editor of Vitamin Daily will be the emcee and The Bay presents fashions from the new Rachel Roy line (including the Halston Heritage dress worn by Carrie in the movie promos).

On top of all of this, my winner will also receive a DVD copy of the first Sex and the City movie.

Often you can’t go a full city block in Vancouver without encountering a piece of public art. Vancouver Biennale has quite a bit to do with that but now we have even more sculptures, installations, and statues that have been put in place as an Olympic legacy. About 20 permanent and temporary public artworks were commissioned for the 2010 Winter Games and among them are eight legacy sites that feature works from veteran and up-and-coming artists.

The legacy sites have the following pieces on display until December 2010 or later:
