Archives Photo of the Day: June 28, 2010

On a whim I’ve decided to start up a new series called, Archives Photo of the Day. I considered posting this to Twitter only until I realized that the links generated by my search queries end up expiring after a few minutes. With people heading on vacation (including us) next month I’m keen on posting smaller pieces that take a bit less time to write — as opposed to the big history series or the then and now series. Without further ado, here’s is my “Vancouver Archives Photo of the Day” for June 28th, 2010.

Caramel Hat Trick for a Cause

Comments 2 by Rebecca Bollwitt

A few month ago I was invited to attend Bloggerpalooza at Ben & Jerry’s headquarters in Vermont. It was a whirlwind tour filled with chocolate chunks, raspberry swirls, and my first-ever Vermonster experience. It was at that time that I found out about a uniquely Canadian flavour that was about to launch called Caramel Hat Trick.

Caramel Hat Trick
Flavour profile: Caramel ice Cream, fudge covered caramel chunks, caramel swirl

Aside from having a hockey-inspired name, sales from this particular flavour will also support the NHLPA Goals & Dreams campaign. A portion from every pint sold will go towards grassroots community hockey programs across Canada.

Over the past 10 years, more than 40,000 deserving children in 22 countries have benefited from the players’ donations of hockey equipment. Goals & Dreams has donated more than $18-million to grassroots hockey programs, making it the largest program of its kind.

The campaign launched June 3rd and will be around while supplies last. Check out the new flavour this summer while supporting some good Canadian kids this winter.
