The Britannia Mine Museum is just a quick drive up the Sea to Sky highway and it’s full of history, activities, environmental and educational information, and more. This weekend, it will be the scene of an Easter Egg Hunt of epic proportions.
The Easter Bunny’s favourite cousin, the loveable Britanniasaurus Rex, will be back hiding his favourite little dino eggs filled with gemstones and goodies throughout the site for kids to find.
When: Sunday, March 31, 2013 with egg hunts at 10:00am and 2:00pm Where: 45 minutes north of Vancouver along the Sea to Sky Cost: Free for members or by regular admission.
On Easter Sunday there will also be kid-friendly learning activities to help identify the gems and visitors can enjoy the usual crowd favourites such as the underground mine train and gold panning, tour the historic 20-storey Mill building, the company gift store, and the children’s play.
You might recognize it as a filming location for some notable movies and TV shows but its main purpose is as a National Historic Site and as “a non-profit organization with the intent to increase awareness of the impact of mining and minerals to society, the history of the storied Britannia Beach community and the ideas and practices of environmental renewal and sustainability.”

Mumford & Sons, one of the world’s hottest bands, is set to play Surrey’s Holland Park on May 24, 2013 as a part of Live Nation’s Concerts in the Park series. While the City of Surrey is known for its awesome free family festivals and concerts, this is gearing up to be one of the city’s largest ticketed outdoor concert events in almost 20 years since Lollapalooza, 1994).

Mumford & Sons will then go from Surrey to the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington and continue their North American tour from there.
Attendance is expected to be around 25,000 in the beautiful public space which is located near Central City shopping centre, two SkyTrain stations, and as a bonus it has free WIFI (a legacy of the 2010 Olympic Games). Online registration starts today. Tickets officially go on sale Friday, April 5, 2013 for $58 each (plus taxes, fees, etc.) and will be available online through Live Nation, by phone 1-855-985-5000 or in person at Red Cat Records, Highlife and all Ticketmaster outlets.
Fan Expo Vancouver is fast-approaching as enthusiasts prepare to flock to the Vancouver Convention Centre for April 20th and April 21st. Fan Expo is Comicon Hollywood North – bringing authors, artists, storytellers, filmmakers, actors, under one roof to celebrate anime, manga, comics, sci-fi, gaming and horror.

There will also be a Student Special F/X Makeup Competition on Saturday, April 20th and the Canadian Videogame Awards will be later that evening at the convention centre as well.
