All Souls at Mountain View Cemetery invites community members to light a candle, write a message, and leave a personal memorial on shrines as an act of remembering their loved ones.

About All Souls & Mountain View Ceremony

Mountain View Cemetery, located at Fraser Street and East 39th Avenue, opened in 1886 and is the only cemetery within Vancouver. Owned and operated by the City of Vancouver, the cemetery is an important civic space and provides interment options and event space.

The cemetery is an embodiment of Vancouver’s history, serving as the final resting place of almost 150,000 people, including several past mayors; veterans from World Wars; notable citizens such as Vancouver’s first lifeguard Joe Fortes and businessman and activist Yip Sang; and people of varied faiths, ethnicities, ages and contributions to Vancouver’s past, present and future.

All Souls emerged out of a collaboration between artists Paula Jardine and Marina Szijarto, who came together in 2005 to find artistic ways to honour the dead and provide opportunities for people to share their traditions in a gentle and tranquil atmosphere.

Throughout the years, the event has been touched, changed and inspired by the many artists, community participants and members of the public who have shared their love and regard for their dead.

Danced to a beautiful and instantly recognizable Tchaikovsky score, this magical story follows the journey of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they battle an evil Mouse King and visit the enchanted world of the Sugar Plum Fairy, among other adventures.

With a cast of 40 dancers and 250 costumes meticulously designed by costume designer Paul Daigle, choreographer Galina Yordanova has created a world of movement that mesmerizes. Gemini Award-winning Brian Perchaluk is the talented scenic designer in charge of transforming the stage into a winter wonderland.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet production is the Lower Mainland’s only professional presentation of Nutcracker, with some of the world’s most talented dancers embodying beloved characters that bring a special and familiar magic to the stage.

The 2023 production also marks the first since RWB’s André Lewis announced he will step down from his roles as Artistic Director and CEO in 2025 after a 50-year career with the company.

Dog Man is beloved by many and has more than 50 million copies in print to date in multiple languages. This musical is adapted from the book A Tale of Two Kitties. The stage production brings the lovable hero to life as he fights crime and tries to save the city.

Best buds George and Harold have been creating comics for years, but now that they’re in 5th grade, they figure it’s time to level up and write a musical based on their favorite character, Dog Man, the crime-biting sensation who is part dog, part man, and ALL HERO! How hard could it be?

With the head of a dog and the body of a policeman, Dog Man loves to fight crime and chew on the furniture. But while trying his best to be a good boy, can he save the city from Flippy the cyborg fish and his army of Beasty Buildings? Can he catch Petey, the world’s most evil cat, who has cloned himself to exact revenge on the doggy do-gooder? And will George and Harold finish their show before lunchtime?? Find out in this epic musical adventure featuring the hilarity and heart of Dav Pilkey’s beloved characters.

The show is written by Kevin Del Aguila and Brad Alexander, who collaborated on the Emmy-winning series Peg + Cat on PBS, TheaterWorksUSA’s Click, Clack, Moo, and Clifford The Big Red Dog on PBS and Amazon. Jen Wineman directs and choreographs.
