Pearl Jam in Vancouver, Win Tickets
Last month it was announced that Pearl Jam and Mudhoney were coming to Vancouver as a part of Pearl Jam’s 20th anniversary tour. Tickets are about to sell out (if they haven’t already) and they’re available through Pearl Jam’s website for $69.50 (plus applicable service charges) with $2 from every ticket sold to be donated to the Vitalogy Foundation.

It has to be “Jeremy” – very intense song about abuse that really spoke to the dark side of current events in the media at the time. The video was also very haunting – the lyrics “Jeremy spoke in class today.” Almost similar to “I Don’t Like Mondays” by Boomtown Rats but a decade later.

“Footsteps” still sends shivers up my spine every time I hear it. It’s part 3 of The Mamasan Trilogy. And the fact that the recording of the song on the “Jeremy” single is a performance from a live radio broadcast makes it all the more incredible.

I like this song for many reasons, but it always makes me laugh because it’s one of those songs that I always screwed up the lyrics to while singing along. There’s a line that goes…. “Sometimes we did but her hands flew from her side, Wild eyed crazy Mary”. I always thought it said “ONE eyed crazy Mary”. Oh well, cracks me up whenever I hear it, kinda a sad song too though when you get right down to it….

I like dang near anything, but I also have a soft spot for their rendition of Last Kiss.
Their rendition made it seem like a much sadder song than the original which almost had a jauntiness to it despite it’s subject matter heh.
