Astra Lumina in Stanley Park

by Rebecca Bollwitt

My favourite thing to do in Whistler is coming to my favourite place in Vancouver! Astra Lumina, from the producers of Vallea Lumina in Whistler, brings a spectacular celestial night walk to Stanley Park this autumn. Imagine the forest at night, with ethereal music dancing through the boughs as you follow light projections and holograms – it’s absolutely dreamy. I have high hopes for this!

Created and presented by Moment Factory and co-presented by Fever, Astra Lumina is designed to respond to the natural landscape in which it is presented.

Along an illuminated pathway through Stanley Park, nine thematic zones unfold through larger-than-life light installations, projections, 360-degree immersion, scenography and soundscapes, creating a series of celestial environments. Set to an original cosmic soundtrack, each chapter invites guests to follow the story of the stars as they descend to Earth before returning to the night sky.

“Following its success across the United States, Australia and Turkey, we are thrilled to bring Astra Lumina to Stanley Park for its Canadian debut,” says Jonathan St-Onge, executive director at Moment Factory Originals. “For 25 years, Moment Factory has created experiences that inspire wonder and connection, highlighting the unique places they inhabit and bringing them to life after dark. We invite guests to step into an enchanted night walk and experience the park’s magic in a new way, where the stars make a rare and luminous visit.”

Astra Lumina builds on the success of editions in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Seattle and Philadelphia, which have welcomed more than two million visitors. Vancouver joins a growing roster of destinations for the experience.

The experience runs approximately 45 to 60 minutes and is open to visitors of all ages. A selection of snacks and beverages available for purchase on-site.
