Tonight in a ceremony at the Roundhouse in Yaletown, I was a recipient of the City of Vancouver Award of Excellence in the Entrepreneurship Cornerstone category for Miss604 and sixty4media.

City of Vancouver Award of Excellence

Rebecca Bollwitt, known as Miss604, is Vancouver’s digital media pioneer. Since 2004, her independent blog has connected residents to events, culture, and community, earning her over 30 local, national, and international awards. She has partnered with more than 25 community campaigns each year, including the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards, Canuck Place Gala, and Covenant House Vancouver, helping raise millions for nonprofits. Globally, she has served as a Vancouver ambassador, providing local and international media coverage during the 2010 Olympics and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. “Through storytelling, advocacy, and innovation, Rebecca has made Miss604 a cultural cornerstone and remains one of Vancouver’s most trusted and impactful community voices.

The City of Vancouver Book Award was presented to the Squamish Nation tonight for Tiná7 Cht Ti Temíxw: We Come from This Land.

The Vancouver Heritage Awards were also presented. The recipients included:

I am incredibly honoured to receive this recognition. My passion for the last two decades has been to champion my city, at home and abroad, which I wrote about for Miss604’s 20th anniversary last year. It hasn’t been easy, and it’s a challenge to continue to adapt and evolve, but I remain unwavering in my commitment to reconciliation, community, supporting local arts and culture organizations, and our hardworking charities and nonprofits.
