Metrotown invites shoppers to “Explore the Galaxy” this summer with a multiverse of entertainment and a Summer Market! On now until September 1, Metrotown is offering visitors fun, family-friendly events for an (inter)stellar summer.
Highlights include:
Summer Market at the Met (July 3-6)
Headlining the summer festivities is the Summer Market, showcasing more than 15 food vendors offering a constellation of culinary delights. Enjoy dishes from Typhoon BBT Café, Wakwakburger, Ponchos Tacos, Cake It Easy, Crema Ice Cream, Chaiwagon, and more! The selection of entrees is out of this world. Catch live music and thrilling performances like fire shows, juggling acts, dancing aliens, SMASH! (where performers transform everyday items into instruments) and more! The market offers family-friendly activities including balloon twisting, face painting, and caricature drawing, along with photo opps with an astronaut, alien, and robot. And don’t miss the Roaming Selfie Ring Photo Booth, where guests can capture the perfect selfie.
Galactic Displays (June 16 to September 1)
Check out captivating galactic displays by Lazy Wizard Design around every corner of the Met. Immersive floor decals create illusions, while QR codes unlock fascinating insights about space. Photo opps are plentiful, with UFOs, astronauts, and aliens popping up throughout the shopping centre. On the Upper Level, visitors can hop from planet to planet across a solar system design embedded in the floor. The celestial journey continues in the Grand Court, where more planetary displays can be found.
Summer Passport (June 16 to September 1)
Visitors can pop by Guest Services for a Summer Passport, which encourages exploration of the summer events at the Met as you can collect stamps along the way! After gathering seven stamps, guests receive a surprise gift, while those who collect 10 stamps are eligible for a chance to win a prize valued at $100.
Summer Dance Party (July 19 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm)
Featuring a roving, space-themed soirée that winds through the Met, stopping at various locations so shoppers can join the action, the Summer Dance Party keeps the music pulsing with a mobile DJ, while astronauts and aliens hand out prizes as they groove to the beats.
Starlab (July 26 and 27 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm)
The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre will present an engaging educational experience called the Starlab; a pop-up planetarium where visitors can enjoy a 10-minute session packed with fascinating facts about space.
