This Canadian world music group from Vancouver who play a fusion of Bhangra, electronic, funk, dub, reggae, hip hop, Celtic music and a mashup of other genres.

Tarun Nayar (tabla, electronics), Sanjay Seran (vocals), Ravi Binning (dhol), and Serena Eades (violin) combine a danceable electronic backbone with live traditional Indian instruments, violin, and powerful Punjabi-English vocals.

Famous for their energy onstage, the band averages 100 shows a year in places that have ranged from grimy, mid-2000s LA dispensaries, to Glastonbury, Electric Forest, Woodford Folk, Bali Spirit Festival, and Burning Man. This isn’t too shabby for a group that was essentially pulled together last minute for what was intended as a one-off performance at the 2006 Vancouver Celtic Festival.

Nurtured by equal parts raucous underground bass parties and all ages folk festivals, Delhi 2 Dublin’s always distinctive sound has evolved over the past decade into its own decisive genre, freshly styled, “Subcontinental Pop” — a name that conveys both its deep South Asian roots and its expansive, crazy-fun appeal.

In 2019 they released their 10th album We Got This with their biggest sounding set of songs ever. The album, produced by Toronto-based hitmaker Gavin Brown (Barenaked Ladies, Metric, Tragically Hip), offers a unique blend of energetic-pop melodies with the electronic pulse of warehouse raves, bringing a positive, colourful feeling to the socially aware messages expressed throughout.

Their energetic shows are world-renown and we’re fortunate to be able to see them for free at Port Day along with Leah Barley, Uncle Strut, and the Wooden Horsemen who will also take to the stage throughout the day.
