Firehall Arts Centre

Produced by rice & beans theatre and Gokko Creative Society, Hideki Noda’s Red Demon explores themes of xenophobic fears of immigration and society’s struggle with intolerance by telling the story of a creature who washes up on the shore of a small beach town. Unable to speak the language, the residents immediately label him a demon that came from the sea to eat them.
Presentation House Theatre

Dreamqueen Immersive’s new show Mary Shelley Meets A Monster is inspired by the legendary tale of Frankenstein. The production puts 18-year old Mary Shelley back at the centre of the story, reclaiming the young woman behind one of literature’s most enduring creations. Just 40 guests per performance step inside Lord Byron’s candlelit drawing room for a theatrical experience blending sharp comedy, gothic spectacle, dance, high-impact stage combat and immersive interactions.

Touchstone Theatre launches its 2026–2027 season with the world premiere of Vascular Necrosis, a dark comedy by Flying Start Playwright-in-Residence Jordyn Wood. The co-production blends zombie lore, queer romance, and dark comedy, turning the post-apocalyptic genre inside out.

Mitch and Murray Productions presents the Western Canadian premiere of Mary Jane by Amy Herzog. A mother, a sick child, and the kind of love that doesn’t get a break. Mary Jane raises her young son Alex, who lives with a serious chronic illness and is heard but never seen onstage — the monitor in the next room is doing half the talking. Semi-autobiographical, drawn from Amy Herzog’s own life, the play follows Mary Jane through the unglamorous daily work of caregiving and the makeshift community of women — a building super, a hospital nurse, a Buddhist nun — who carry her through it. Winner of the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play.

Interlaced with poetic songs and witty dialogue, The Birds by Yvette Nolan explores the realities of colonialism and reconciliation. In this fresh and transformative adaptation of Aristophanes’ classic, two humans venture to the land of the birds in search of a new way of life. The pair quickly become preoccupied with the opportunity to create to create a paradise of their own, without regard for the land’s occupants.

Dracula A Comedy of Terrors

The Arts Club Theatre Company’s Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors is a fast-paced comedy packed with humourous wordplay, physical comedy, and outrageous characters. Everyone knows the story: a vampiric count, a kidnapped young lady, and a brave hero to save the day. But this time around, the hero’s a coward, the lady yearns for adventure, and the count is…a cake-baking dreamboat? This Dracu-larious adaptation of the gothic classic gleefully turns the tale on its head but never loses track of its heart—that’s where the stake goes, after all.

The Effect is a razor-sharp play by Succession writer Lucy Prebble, that explores the chemical nature of love through the lens of a clinical drug trial. Connie and Tristan sign up for a clinical trial testing a new dopamine-regulating antidepressant under close observation. As doses increase, so does their attraction. But as desire intensifies and side effects ripple through the study, one unsettling question emerges: is this love… or just chemistry? Placing audiences inside the clinical trial, the line between genuine emotion and chemical manipulation begins to blur.
Curious Cats Theatre Collective

Curious Cats Theatre Collective is a Vancouver non-profit society dedicated to producing theatre that is at turns both entertaining and thought-provoking. Their fall production is Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies. After being seriously injured overseas, Sarah, a photojournalist, has returned home to her long time partner, James, a foreign correspondent, who is navigating his own war-induced emotional trauma. Together they attempt to adjust to a new domesticated life, alongside their editor and mentor Richard and his younger girlfriend, Mandy. A gritty and compelling examination on the emotional and moral consequences of war, love, humanity and whether certain desires and images can ever really be erased.
