Coast Mental Health (CMH) is one of the province’s largest providers of community-based mental health services and this Mental Health Month is a good time to share information about their many programs and supports.
May is Mental Health Month
Each year, thousands of people living with mental illness are able access to essential services through CMH, supporting their recovery and finding a meaningful place in our communities – a place to live, a place to connect, and a place to work.
Programs like the Coast Clubhouse provide recovery-focused programming that supports people living with mental illness through social, recreational, and vocational programs. The Coast Mental Health Foundation funded Young Adult Program has supported the creation of the Rabble Rousers, a group of young adults using creativity and courage to change conversations around mental health through art, advocacy and storytelling on their podcast – They Called Me Mental – now in its second season.
“Coast has helped me have a sense of purpose. It’s nice to have activities and people who don’t judge and stuff. I think without Coast I’d be a little bit lost. It’s a nice place for me to come. And it’s good to be a part of something bigger. Just trying to get by on my own is hard.”

With the growing conversation online about mental health, it’s important to recognize that anyone can be impacted, including ourselves, our friends, our family, our neighbours.
