What is The Dome Vancouver
When people talk about the dome in Vancouver, many would assume it was something related to Science World (our city’s iconic geodesic dome), perhaps the old puffy BC Place dome roof, or even the classic faux-patina of the Sun Tower. However, the Instagram-famous Dome Vancouver is actually the brand name of an attraction visiting the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.

The Dome Vancouver
- The Dome Vancouver at The Planetarium at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre (1100 Chestnut Street, Vancouver) in Vanier Park in Kitsilano – to be precise.
The Dome takes over the Planetarium’s 360° spherical immersive theatre in the evenings with features that include: Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon; Blue Whales: Return of the Giants with Andy Serkis; Pedro Pascal: Encounters in the Milky Way. Shows are currently bookable online, between 5:00pm and 10:00pm, until the end of February.
The world-class immersive experience was built by the team behind visuals at Sphere Las Vegas and boasts crisp 10K resolution visuals (150,000 lumens), 20,000 watts of Dolby Atmos surround sound, and state-of-the-art laser systems, to be enjoyed while reclining in comfortable planetarium seating.
Tickets for The Dome Vancouver are sold separately from Planetarium admission, and it operates after space centre hours.
Those wishing to visit the Planetarium, its exhibits and shows, can book tickets online or in person. Admission to the Planetarium includes a show in the Planetarium Star Theatre, a live science presentation, and time to browse the Cosmic Courtyard gallery. On now until April, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and PosAbilities present The Space Within, an art exhibition that connects inner experience with the mysteries of outer space. Featuring works by artists from Alternative Creations Studio, the show explores how emotion, memory, and imagination shape the way we see the universe — and ourselves.
