Whitecaps Advance to Western Conference Final
Tonight in Vancouver, after extra time and penalty kicks, the Whitecaps advanced to the MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Final on November 29th after defeating LAFC.

It was a hard-fought battle in front of 53,957 fans as they persevered with ten players (due to a red card for Blackmon from yellow accumulation) at the end of regulation with the score 2-2 with goals from Emmanuel Sabbi and Mathías Laborda, and Son Heung-Min for LAFC.
They headed into extra time shorthanded and lost another man on the pitch when Belal Halbouni went down injured near the end of the two 15 minute halves. The match went into penalties and Vancouver came out on top 4-3 with Laborda putting away the deciding goal.
It was the third-year in a row the two sides have met in the playoffs.
Whitecaps Advance to Western Conference Final
Tickets for the MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Final go on sale Sunday, November 23 at 10:00am however we won’t know if we have a home match next Saturday until San Diego and Minnesota face off on Monday in the other Western Semifinal. Should San Diego prevail, next Saturday’s conference final will be hosted there since they finished ahead of us in the table. If Minnesota win, we’ll host them at BC Place.
This will be the first time that the ‘Caps face either San Diego FC or Minnesota United FC in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Against San Diego – who have had a record-breaking expansion season – the ‘Caps fell 5-3 at BC Place on June 25, and tied 1-1 at Snapdragon Stadium on July 19. Vancouver played to a 3-1 win on April 27 against Minnesota at Allianz Field, and a 0-0 draw at home on May 28.
The winner of the Western Conference Final will move on to MLS Cup on Saturday, December 6, hosted by the team that finished with more points during the regular season.
