More than 35 other local non-profit organizations, community support agencies and businesses who support the local Indigenous community are also on the planning committee.
Orange Shirt Day and Beyond
This September 30th marks the fourth anniversary of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation for Canada, also known as Orange Shirt Day. This day holds profound importance, serving as a time to honour the survivors of residential schools, their families, and the Indigenous communities affected by the long-standing legacy of harm.
To show support, you can do something as simple as attending this event, or one in your community and wearing orange. You can support Indigenous businesses, talk to your friends, kids, or parents about this subject, or read a book by an Indigenous author.
Follow PLEA Community Services, Katzie First Nation, and Fraser River Indigenous Society for more information about this event, and other community resources.
