5 International Women’s Day Events in Vancouver
Workout for Women’s Day (March 3-9) has a lineup of seven events on March 8th that include lifting, running, walking, and more. Sign up by donating to one of the beneficiaries: Battered Women’s Support Services, Cause We Care Foundation, and/or Dress for Success Vancouver.
GEMFest (March 5-9) Gender Equity in Media Society Vancouver (GEMS) will host an Advocacy Panel (free or by donation) on March 8th at the VIFF Centre Vancity Theatre. This will be a panel on advocacy in film, showcasing organizations whose work drives social change and funders who are working to better their approaches to equitable access.
Girls in STEM Seminar (March 8th 1:30pm to 3:30pm) at the Surrey City Centre Library. KPU’s Pre-Med Club is hosting a panel of successful women studying and working in STEM fields to share their career journeys. Free to attend, RSVP online.
Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon (March 8th 12:00pm to 4:00pm) at the Surrey Art Gallery. Participants are invited to browse the gallery’s permanent collection, library books, and research material to develop and deepen content on topics related to BIPOC, gender nonconforming artists, and feminisms. Free, drop-ins welcome.
International Women’s Day March (March 8th 1:00pm to 4:00pm) at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza). Celebrate, amplify, and fight alongside the diversity of women in our community to achieve equity and create awareness of issues self-identifying women in Vancouver face.
