Herstory Gala for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre
byTickets are now available for Herstory, the 9th annual fundraising gala for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. DEWC hoping to raise $250,000 to support their drop-in centres, that provide warm, safe spaces for women to rest and make positive change happen in their lives.

- Location: D/6 Bar & Lounge @ Parq Casino (39 Smithe St, Vancouver)
- Tickets: Early bird tickets ($70) available until February 14th.
The event will be hosted by Madelaine McCallum and feature an opening prayer by Elder Rita Blind, and drums by Wildflower Women of Turtle Island. The highlight of the evening is women of the community performing the signature fashion show, an expression of their personal style and power.
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be available. Don’t miss the silent auction, and a live auction, hosted by Howard Blank.
About the DEWC
Created in 1978, the mission of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for self-identifying women (cis, trans, 2S), from all walks of life, who live and/or work in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. To achieve this goal, they provide supportive surroundings with meals, beds, counselling, advocacy, and programs which nurture and empower nearly 1,200 women every day across 5 service sites.
The demand for basic needs, such as housing and food has more than doubled and the costs are through the roof. They need your help to continue provide meals, safety and community to the women of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.
DEWC engages with key populations of vulnerable women, with 70% of their community identifying as Indigenous women, as well as serving immigrant women, single mothers, and seniors.
