byRemembrance Day, November 11th, is a day to remember the courage, service and sacrifice of thousands of Canadians, and to honour them by never forgetting them. Your city will most likely have a service or ceremony around its local cenotaph, and to make things easier we have put together a list of Remembrance Day ceremonies around Vancouver that you can attend:
To honour the service and sacrifices of past and present veterans, TransLink is offering free transit on Remembrance Day for all services, including HandyDART. Veterans, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, police and fire departments, Canadian Coast Guard, and BC Ambulance Service can present their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or appear in uniform to receive free transit on November 11th.
Remembrance Day Ceremonies Around Vancouver
Event: National Indigenous Veterans Day
Where: 312 Main Street followed by a march to Victory Square
When: Tuesday, November 8, 2022
Details: Open Ceremonies 8:30am to 10:00am with Speaker MC, Mary Point. Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, Tsawwassen Nations represented along with AFN National Chief RoseAnne Archibald and other special guests and dignitaries. The Order of Honour March will leave at 10:00am and head to Victory Square.
Event: Remembrance at Mountain View
Where: Mountain View Cemetery (5455 Fraser St, Vancouver)
When: November 11th at 11:00am
Details: Gather at the Abray South Field of Honour for Remembered Aloud at 11:00am a bell will toll 11 times, followed by 2 minutes of silence. 11 brass players and singers from 3 choirs (musica intima and The Vancouver Bach Choir, Vancouver Youth Choir) will all gather, and sing/play a simple Phrase of Remembrance together. All the performers will then begin to move away from each other, and each person in their own time will read a name out loud from a grave marker, and then sing or play the Phrase of Remembrance, until the they have left the Field of Honour. Over 12,000 veterans rest in Mountain View, and the hope is this event will speak several hundred names out loud, and each of those people will be given a small moment of individual reflection. All are invited to join in silent meditation as the music and performers move across the Field of Honour, and to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many.
Event: Remembrance Day at Victory Square
Where: Victory Square (200 W Hastings St, Vancouver)

Details: The Remembrance Day Service at Victory Square is the oldest continuing annual ceremony in Vancouver. The ceremony began in 1924 and reflects respect and remembrance of sacrifices in the service of our country – past and present. The service is organized by the Vancouver Remembrance Day Committee, a civic volunteer group with a mandate to organize and conduct the November 11 ceremony on behalf of our citizens. Vancouver is the only city in Canada with a civic volunteer committee supported by the City.
Event: Remembrance Day at UBC
Where: War Memorial Gym (6081 University Boulevard, Vancouver)
When: November 11th at 10:00am
Details: This year, 2022 will mark 72 years that The University of British Columbia has hosted a Remembrance Day ceremony. This special ceremony is an opportunity for faculty, staff, students and members of the on and off-campus community to honour and remember all those who served in times of war, military conflict and peace. This year’s ceremony will include participation and recognition of UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses and will feature short readings, remarks from special guests and musical performances by the UBC’s School of Music. Event: Seaforth Highlanders Remembrance Day
Where: Seaforth Armoury Parade Square (1650 Burrard, Vancouver)
When: November 11th at 10:30am.
Details: The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Regimental Association cordially invites members of the Billy Bishop/Kerrisdale Royal Canadian Legion Br. 176 to attend a Remembrance Day service on the Seaforth Armoury parade square on Friday November 11th. The Seaforth service will begin at 10:30am and will be led by Rev. Carla Wilks who is the new Regimental chaplain of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. The service will also include the piping of The Lament. Access to the parade square will be via the large blue doors fronting Burrard Street.

Event: North Vancouver Remembrance Day
Where: Victoria Park Cenotaph (100 block of East Keith Road)
When: November 11th 10:00am, parade at 11:35am
Details: 2022 marks the return of the Veterans’ Parade after the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph. For those who are unable to attend, there will be a live stream.
Event: New Westminster Remembrance Day
Where: City Hall Cenotaph (511 Royal Ave, New Westminster)
When: November 11th at 10:30am
Details: A live stream will be available online for those who wish to tune in from home.
Event: Richmond Remembrance Day
Where: City Hall Cenotaph (6911 No. 3 Road, Richmond)
When: November 11th at 10:40am
Details: For those wishing to reflect and remember with the community, there will be an in-person Remembrance Day ceremony and a live stream online.
Event: North Burnaby Remembrance Day
Where: North Burnaby Cenotaph, Confederation Park (Willingdon Ave & Penzance Dr)
When: November 11th at 10:30am
Details: The ceremony in north Burnaby will be hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #148, and will take place at the cenotaph in Confederation Park. A parade to the cenotaph will begin from McGill Library at 10:30am.
Event: South Burnaby Remembrance Day
Where: South Burnaby Cenotaph (Bonsor Park at Imperial St and Nelson Ave)
When: November 11th at 10:30am
Details: The ceremony in south Burnaby will be hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #83, and will take place at the cenotaph in Bonsor Park. A parade to the cenotaph will begin from Fire Hall #3 at 10:30 am.
Event: West Vancouver Service
Where: Memorial Park (Marine Drive between 19th St and 20th St)
When: November 11th from 10:45am to 11:30am
Details: The parade starts at 10:45am from 18th Street and proceeds along Marine Drive to the cenotaph at Memorial Park. All members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Event: Surrey Remembers
Where: Veterans’ Square (17671 Highway 10 (56 Ave)
When: November 11th from 10:00am to 1:00pm
Details: Take in the Remembrance Day service at the Cloverdale Cenotaph in Veterans Square. The ceremony will be live streamed from the Heritage Surrey Facebook page. Both Museum of Surrey and the Surrey Archives will be open from 10:00am to 1:00pm. While at the museum, visit the Duty, Honour and Izzat exhibit, an exhibition commemorating the Indian efforts on the centennial anniversary of World War 1.
Event: Langley Remembrance Day
Where: Douglas Park Cenotaph (20550 Douglas Crescent, Langley City)
When: November 11th at 10:50am
Details: Langley City invites the community to gather together at the Douglas Park Cenotaph to remember all who served and sacrificed for our country. A live stream will be available as well.
Event: Port Coquitlam Remembrance Day
Where: Veterans Park (2580 Shaughnessy St, Port Coquitlam)
When: November 11th at 10:00am
Details: The Port Coquitlam Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133 will hold its annual Remembrance Day service to honour veterans.
