Vancouver Sun Run Has Been Cancelled for 2020
byThe Vancouver Sun Run, the third largest 10K in North America, has been cancelled. Scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 19th, organizers have issued the following statement:
Vancouver Sun Run Has Been Cancelled for 2020
After careful consideration and in light of the latest information from federal and provincial health agencies, the 2020 Vancouver Sun Run has decided to cancel the 2020 event. The health and safety of our registrants, staff and volunteers is our top priority and at this time several health agencies in North America have recommended cancelling large gatherings. Although the Federal Ministry of Health continues to assess the health risk to Canadians as low in regards to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) the Vancouver Sun Run feels that is in the best interest of our participants to cancel the event. The Vancouver Sun Run has been Canada’s largest 10K road race since its inception in 1985, and is currently the third largest timed 10k in North America. Founded by former Canadian Olympians Dr. Doug and Diane Clement along with Dr. Jack Taunton. The run’s purpose was to promote the benefits of running, to improve health and fitness, as well as support elite amateur athletics.
