Vancouver has pop-up markets, pop-up shops, and pop-up rollerskating, and then there’s the laneway party you didn’t know Vancouver had: a pop-up Public Disco in Alley Oop.

Returning for a second year, Public Disco in Alley Oop an is immersive pop-up party for neighbours and strangers to connect through music. This space, reimagined by local architecture firm HCMA with the help of the Downtown Vancouver BIA, also served as the location for Public Disco’s first street party in June of 2017. Now, one year and 7 volumes later, the party returns to Alley Oop.

Public Disco utilizes the universal power of music to dissolve barriers to social interaction and get folks of all walks of life connecting on the dance floor. It also serves as a gateway for the public into the cities vibrant dance music scene, showcasing a variety of local DJ’s in the realm of house and disco music. All ages and everyone is welcome!

Sparkle Station & More

For those that need a little help adding some sparkle to their look we have a free biodegradable glitter and face painting station manned by professional makeup artist Jena jac. There will also be ping pong from frida&frank, children’s toys, places to sit and dancing accessories for play.

Enjoy an acclaimed lineup of DJs (all of whom can be seen playing at this year’s Bass Coast Festival), including Nina Mendoza, Wabi Time (Of Humans/Sabota), Ryan Wells and Neighbour (longtime DJ at Shambhala Music Festival).
